Iridex Laser System
The Iridex laser is ideally suited to treat vascular and pigmented lesions of the face and body. The procedure is performed in the office with little pain associated with it and very little down time. Vascular lesions formed by blood vessels under the skin are readily treated. Pigmented lesions also formed within the skin can be treated. Redness from scarring is another indication for the Iridex laser. For hair removal and treatment of larger vessels, Dr. Monasebian will continue to use his Lyra Laser.

Laser Skin Resurfacing
Also known as "laser peel," laser skin resurfacing usually takes less than 1½ hours (sometimes just a few minutes) depending on the size of the area being treated. The procedure uses a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser beam which vaporizes the upper layers of damaged skin at controlled levels of penetration. Also used is Erbium Laser beam. The procedure removes areas of damaged or wrinkled skin often caused by prolonged sun exposure. Laser resurfacing can minimize the appearance of fine lines around the mouth and the eyes and is also effective in treating facial scars and skin areas with uneven pigmentation. Other procedures done in our office are sclerotherapy, Botox, TCA peels, glycolic acid peels and BioMedic peels.

Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a finely tuned sophisticated procedure done with the use of laser. This specific laser is designed to remove the growth center at the base of the hair follicle. The laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin, to the hair follicle, where it is absorbed. Upon absorption, the laser energy is transformed into heat, which can disable the follicle. The majority of the body parts are appropriate for the use of this laser. It is essentially a painless procedure, it can be performed in the office and does not require anesthesia. The laser is FDA approved and in general 3 laser treatments 4 weeks apart are required for complete removal of the hair in the region.

Laser Vein Removal
Spiders are those ugly, dark blue little veins that run up and down the legs resembling lines on a road map. Sometimes spiders group themselves into nasty little star burst patterns that pop out where they are least wanted! Sometimes they fan out along the outside of the thigh or the inner aspect of the lower leg. Often they gather around the ankles or behind the knees. Removal of Shaving Bumps
Shaving bumps are a common problem for people with curly hair and dark skin. As the hair grows out of the skin, it will immediately re-curl and re-enter the skin causing it to become inflamed and irritated creating bumps. Tattoo Removal
If the tattoo is relatively small and/or easily accessible and cosmetically in an inconspicuous area, the entire tattoo can be surgically cut out (or excised), and the skin can be sutured closed with stitches. This can be done in a single treatment session, or in several treatment sessions involving a "staged" or serial excision technique. This surgical technique is done in the office under local anesthesia.
