Facial Reconstruction

Treatment Of Skin Cancer And Skin Lesions

Once your dermatologist or doctor detects a suspicious or cancerous growth on your face it needs to be removed. Removal and follow-up care is only part of the treatment. Your face must be restored to its original beauty and function and often the special flaps and techniques that Dr. Monasebian uses are needed to achieve this. These procedures can often be performed in the comfort of our accredited Office Based Surgical facility.

Corrective Jaw Surgery (Orthognathic Surgery)

One or both jaws may grow too little or too much. This resulting abnormality may result in difficulties with speech, chewing or the ways your teeth align. The lips and tongue may be forced too much in unnatural ways. This will have long term oral health effects and affect your jaw joint (TMJ). When this problem exists, you may need Corrective Jaw Surgery. Dr. Monasebian’s surgery is usually done in conjunction with an Orthodontist who will use braces. The surgery involves moving one or both jaws into a more harmonious and balanced relationship. The effects of this surgery not only improve oral health but also improve and balance facial aesthetics as well. Ancillary procedures of the cheeks, nose, chin and neck may also be done at the same time.

Facial Fractures And Lacerations

No one ever wants to be in an accident or a victim of a dog bite but these unfortunate events do occur. In this unfortunate scenario, trust your face to a surgeon with additional expertise in both the hard tissues (bone and cartilage) as well as soft tissues (skin, muscle and nerve) of the face. Dr. Monasebian’s understanding of the face as well as his aesthetic eye will help to restore your face to its previous form and function.

Cleft Lip Surgery And Cleft Palate Surgery

Many children are born each year with Cleft Lip and/or Cleft Palate. A Cleft Team that brings together many resources best manages these children. Dr. Monasebian is a member of this team that will help restore your child’s face.

Septoplasty

Septoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct defects or deformities of the septum. The nasal septum is the separation between the two nostrils. In adults, it is composed of both cartilage and bone. The nasal septum has three functions: support the nose, regulate airflow, and support the mucous membranes of the nose. Additionally, a septoplasty may be performed in conjunction with a rhinoplasty in order to ensure that the reshaping of the nose does not result in a reduction of the amount of breathing space

Facial Neurosurgery

There are many nerves in our face that are responsible for both movement and feeling. Often as a result of previous surgery, cancer, accident or birth defect these nerves do not work properly. Depending on the situation involved, Dr. Monasebian may be able to help improve the function of the nerve. Dr. Monasebian has successfully restored form and function to the Facial Nerve and branches of the Trigeminal Nerve including the orbital nerve, the maxillary nerve and the mandibular nerve. These nerves provide sensation and feeling to the face. Dr. Monasebian also repairs the lingual nerve. The lingual nerve provides feeling and sensation and taste for the tongue.

Burns And Burn Reconstruction

Burns involve an injury to the skin and associated tissue, often caused by fire, chemicals, heat, electricity, the sun or other factors. They can range in severity and are classified as first, second, third or fourth degree burns, based on their depth and the degree of damage to skin tissue. Burns can often leave patients with severe physical disfigurements, depending on the cause and severity of the burn.

Improving the aesthetic appearance of burns can help the patient’s self esteem and prevent permanent scarring. Burn treatments usually involve skin grafting and cosmetic reconstruction, and may be performed in an emergency facility or later on. These treatments also focus on restoring function to the burned skin to reduce the risk of complications such as loss of mobility or a loss of one of the senses.
